A palm-lined walkway adorned with fountains and a sweeping staircase lead to the entrance of the attractive plantation-style Manor House at the centre of this popular resort. The oceanfront lagoon pool is very family-focused with a designated children’s area while the south pool is more tranquil. The scattering of white-washed buildings bring to mind a rustic Mediterranean retreat; however, the friendly service, white beach and stunning ocean views at this adults-only retreat are all undeniably Mauritian.

The Asian restaurant has a beautiful waterside setting and is open for lunch and dinner and you can sample dishes from around Asia as well as Japanese specialities from the sushi bar. The resort is modern in style but with a nod to the style of the island with exposed dark brick walls that are complemented with light and natural tones and fresh white furnishings. This is one for lovers of fine food and drink: six restaurants take you on a gastronomic journey from South American flavours at INTI (don’t miss the fresh ceviche) to authentic Creole cuisine at Banyan and a Turkish twist at Bodrum Blue. We did the glassbottom boat trip too the coral reef where you all different species of fish the guide on the boat was very informative about the area. There are three restaurants: the casual main dining venue The Kitchen, The Beach where Mediterranean-inspired dishes are served right by the golden sands, and the specialty Thai restaurant East. The top table here has to be at the Barachois, where tables are set on five floating decks on the lagoon and there’s also a floating bar – perfect for a sundowner. For daytime drinks and poolside snacks, take a seat at the the cool and casual Coral Bar. The Villas on Stilts overlook the lagoon and offer even more space including a living/dining room, while the Villas Beachfront feature a plunge pool on the terrace.
