1 Posting as 12/07/2012 There were at least 28 people on the route, of several nationalities, including British. 12/07/2012 It tops out on Mont Maudit [French literal translation: Cursed Mountain], at 4,465 m or 14,649 ft altitude. I met him on top of ben nevis in 2000/2001, I'd just done my first ever winter climb of no.3 gully and he'd just climbed point five with alan kimber (which I did years later). Were we to define a list of the most beautiful high altitude climbs in the Alps, the Kuffner Ridge on Mont Maudit would certainly feature in the top … altitude-montblanc.com, Montriond, Rhone-Alpes, France. The 28 had all left the Cosmiques Hut after the 01:00 breakfast. The normal ascent from the Col du Mont Maudit is the NW-ridge which is 250 m long.
