Hi guys, After months of looking at bikes in the competitive £2,000 price range I am 99% sure this is the bike that I want to buy, took it out for a test ride this morning and its light, stiff, fast and looks sweet as well. Instantly the hoods of the Centaur shifters with their ridged surface feel like a good place to be and there’s that very positive, mechanical Campag engagement as you click up a gear with your right thumb.

And above all you'd feel proud of it every time you wheeled it out of the front door because it looks good enough to be racked against bikes costing twice the price. Its longer dimensions, mated to a broad-crowned fork, mean it’s as stiff and direct-handling as you’d need, though, so there isn’t any real need to update it to the current fashion for all things tapered. It’s the handling of the Izoard, which we loved before, that still sets it apart; the longer rear end induces comfort while the front retains a sharp, snappy feel that we associate with the best of the Italian breed.
The lovely shallow drop and compact bend of the Ritchey handlebar felt just right too, placing your thumbs perfectly for the Campag shifters. While looking the absolute business when their matching yellow rim graphics were spinning, they would be ripe for upgrading because although they held speed well on the flat, they weren’t especially stiff or light. At the end of the day if you were lashing out £2,000 on the Izoard XP as your only bike then you wouldn't be disappointed. The Izoard XP is Wilier Triestina’s entry-level carbon frame and it’s available with four different groupsets hanging off it – two Shimano and two Campagnolo. Magazines The Wilier saddle is by Selle Italia and modelled on their Q-bik design – broad and flat-nosed with a slim profile, it’s more padded than some and more comfortable than most. Quick, comfy and affordable, the Izoard XP is the most popular Wilier in the line-up.
As the Izoard design hasn’t changed fundamentally, the front end is still built around a standard straight head tube. Spec Value .
No doubt you will already be justifying the expenditure with such terrible excuses as ‘it’s so bright I won’t need to buy a new set of lights this winter’ (you will). The Izoard XP is Wilier Triestina’s entry-level carbon frame and it’s available with four different groupsets hanging off it – two Shimano and two Campagnolo. Underneath the bold graphics is a hard rolling compound with a waxy surface that’s uneven in the dry and downright slippery in the wet. I’m generally a bit of a grinder and like to push a big gear in a sprint, so not a massive fan of compact gearsets as a result, but I’ll happily admit that the 50/34 option was lovely on some of the sharper ascents up there.
Reviews The only jarring piece of spec is the big Selle Italia Q-Bik saddle, which looks like a chunky pterodactyl perched on the seatpost. Tweet.

In fact, improvements have been made, with a better cockpit and chainset on offer. The Izoard’s geometry stays pretty much on a par with their top-flight sport bikes (such as the Gran Turismo) but adds a little length to the chainstays, which combines with slender seatstays to add plushness to the ride.

Gaining enough grip in foul conditions meant dropping the psi, which helped a little but left us prone to punctures.
